Orwellian Tolerance of Violence But Intolerance of Verbal Goof-Ups

Because of mass brainwashing in America, and ultra-hyper-sensitivity, we now have harassment of people who stupidly made some innocent remark, not because they are racists, but just out of insensitivity.

Intolerant society now does not forgive people for such verbal mistakes, and people persecute the insensitive louts, getting someone fired from a job or a TV show cancelled, such as Rosanne Barr.

As I mentioned previously, if someone says, “All lives matter,” that is called “insensitive,” and a person is fired from one’s job. I already mentioned how a professor was reading from Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” in which Dr. King used the “N-word.” and because the professor read that out loud, even though it was Dr. King who was using the “N-word,” that professor is being investigated. A liberal, non-racist professor. That is how irrational our society has become.

Well, I have another case of hysteria in the area of hyper-sensitivity. Dave Andelman, who had been CEO and host of “Phantom Gourmet,” a restaurant related Boston TV show, was forced to resign from his CEO and hosting positions because of writing sarcastic remarks on his Facebook page regarding the Black Lives Matter protests, the rioting and vandalism that have been taking place, and the irrational COVID lockdown.

In one post, Andelman wrote, “If the people who fought to create and defend this country knew politicians and police were ‘taking a knee’ after looting in major cities, while millions of law abiding citizens were denied the right to make a living, they’d jam bayonets into their own heads.”

Now, in today’s climate of hostility, that was obviously very dumb of him to write that. However, when you see hundreds of businesses being burned down, owned by people who are not involved in racism or in whatever the rioters’ grievances are, I can understand the need to express a sense of cynicism. Can’t you?

And the people burning down whole businesses, looting and stealing from innocent people, and destroying churches, libraries and homes as well, are not “protesters.” Acts of violence and criminality are NOT legitimate forms of “protest”! If they were, then America is just another third-world hell-hole.

Andelman also mixed his cynicism over the “protests” and rioting and looting with his cynicism over the COVID hysteria, including, “Zero effort to stop or distance these ‘protests’. Open business now and stop this silly charade.” And, “Maybe Back Bay restaurants and retailers could offer touchless, curbside looting and gyms could call workouts “protests against obesity.”

Now, I can see how some ultra-sensitive people may interpret that last remark as showing a lack of compassion toward what actual protesters are protesting, when he writes about workouts being “protests against obesity.” But can people lighten up, for crying out loud? I don’t think that someone should be fired for that.

Again, “looters” are not “protesters.” Looters are thieves and hooligans. Stealing from others is not a legitimate form of protesting. And when people involved in protesting turn to looting and arson, then their own acts of criminality in and of themselves de-legitimize whatever legitimate grievances those perpetrators may have had.

Hooligans and barbarians who violate the lives, property and liberty of others are just as worthy of cynicism, sarcasm, and parody as are the Orwellian “pandemic” policies of our fascist dictator governors.

So the looting, burning down and destroying businesses and threatening the lives of others have nothing to do with protesting racism or police brutality.

If our society continues to tolerate violence but not tolerate mere words, then we really are in serious trouble.

Is There “Systemic” Racism in America?

There is a lot of ignorance and brainwashing in America now. One thing that many people really believe is that there is “systemic racism” in America. Maybe up to the 1960s when there was still no Civil Rights Act, and there were still “Jim Crow” laws. But now? “Systemic”?

The Jim Crow laws were government laws that forced segregation by race onto private businesses and organizations, and prohibited private business owners from desegregating. When white business owners allowed black customers to sit at a counter right along with black customers, such as in Alabama or Mississippi, the police came in to harass and even beat up the business owners and arrest them for violating “the law.” Obviously, that kind of fascism should not be tolerated in a free and civilized society.

But all those laws were repealed all across the U.S. by the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which also prohibited discrimination based on race.

After 50+ years, we now have many black government officials, state representatives and Congressmen, black mayors, city council members and black police chiefs. And other minorities as well, obviously. There are many black people working side by side with whites in businesses all across America, and there is no conflict there, mostly. There are many black businessmen, black doctors and lawyers, accountants and teachers. My Stop&Shop store has mostly black workers, as does my nearest CVS. I don’t see their bosses doing anything against those people because they are black. I don’t see police going in there and harassing them. Are there isolated incidents? Sure. But it’s not common.

And on the college campuses, there are many black professors and other black workers and administrators. However, it is at those places that many young people are being told to ignore real life all around them, and instead they are indoctrinated to believe that there is “systemic racism.” Especially when a single police incident occurs that is amplified and a video repeated over and over and over. That helps with the brainwashing.

But in the cities, we have the problem of police attempting to enforce thousands and thousands of laws of prohibition, such as drug laws, and bureaucratic laws and code laws, such as selling individual cigarettes. And yes, police tend to be targeting black citizens and other minorities.

What can overwhelmingly contribute to resolving that situation? Repeal ALL those laws, especially every single drug-related law on the books, and you will greatly decrease police harassment of innocent people. I am sure of that. Ending “qualified immunity” will also help.

Governors Confused on What Is “Essential” During their Illegal Lockdowns

Among the many problems this whole societal shutdown has been causing me personally is the closing down of my local GNC, where I get a particular non-GNC brand name supplement that I haven’t been able to get anywhere else. And I don’t want to order things like supplements online and have them delivered! This store among many others were closed down because of being called “non-essential.” Maybe “non-essential” to you, fascist governor, but essential to ME!

You see, these ignorant moron politicians see liquor stores as “essential” so that is why those stores get to stay open.

So, nutrition=”non-essential,” while non-nutrition=”essential”! Only in what is becoming a third-world America, sadly.

Spread of Coronavirus in Italy and Italian Culture

Why are there so many deaths from coronavirus COVID-19 in Italy, even more than China? Some people are saying that it’s because there’s not enough testing in Italy. But, according to this March 18th Bloomberg article,

More than 99% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions, according to a study by the country’s national health authority.

After deaths from the virus reached more than 2,500, with a 150% increase in the past week, health authorities have been combing through data to provide clues to help combat the spread of the disease.

The new study could provide insight into why Italy’s death rate, at about 8% of total infected people, is higher than in other countries.

The Rome-based institute has examined medical records of about 18% of the country’s coronavirus fatalities, finding that just three victims, or 0.8% of the total, had no previous pathology. Almost half of the victims suffered from at least three prior illnesses and about a fourth had either one or two previous conditions.

More than 75% had high blood pressure, about 35% had diabetes and a third suffered from heart disease.

The average age of those who’ve died from the virus in Italy is 79.5. As of March 17, 17 people under 50 had died from the disease. All of Italy’s victims under 40 have been males with serious existing medical conditions.

While data released Tuesday point to a slowdown in the increase of cases, with a 12.6% rise, a separate study shows Italy could be underestimating the real number of cases by testing only patients presenting symptoms.

According to the GIMBE Foundation, about 100,000 Italians have contracted the virus, daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported. That would bring back the country’s death rate closer to the global average of about 2%.

Also, a higher percentage of Italy’s elderly are smokers. And there may be another reason why there is such a higher rate of infections in Italy, the fact that Italians are more affectionate than perhaps people in other countries, with the hugging and kissing in their greetings. And apparently it’s is hard to shake that habit.

It would be quite revealing, I think, if the news reporters here in the U.S. would give some statistics as far as what percentage of those confirmed cases that are in the hospital or in ICU are smokers or ex-smokers, and what are the specific preexisting conditions that many people have who are getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

Mass Hysteria in the U.S. with COVID-19

With this COVID-19 coronavirus panic and hysteria, the real trouble is coming not from the virus itself but from the panic and hysteria, over-hyped by a very dishonest “news” media, in my opinion. It’s the first time in my 50+ years that I have seen this kind of panic and hysteria over what appears to be the same kind of illness as the flu.

But in the U.S., in which we’ve been through a Civil War and other major wars, Y2K, 9/11, not to mention the “Spanish Flu” of 1918, SARS and H1N1, with COVID-19 it is as though “We’re All Going to Die!” People are literally hysterical.

We’re talking about a mortality rate of up to 1%, people! The hysterical ones are treating something with a mortality rate of 1% as though it is Ebola that has a mortality rate of 90%!

And many of those who actually do get infected probably won’t notice it or have symptoms, and most of those who do come down with the symptoms will only experience “mild” symptoms. 99% of those who get it will NOT die.

In fact, I believe that this virus has been around in the U.S. and other parts of the world outside of China for months now, and that many people have already had the damn virus and probably assumed that what they had was just a flu or a cold. That is my theory on that.

Most of the deaths from officially-confirmed COVID-19 in the U.S. have been in Washington state, and most of them were from a single nursing home. Most of the people who are dying from this disease are in their 70s and 80s. Even in China, not one child below the age of 10 has died from this disease.

If you’re young, try not to worry. If you think you may have contracted the virus, then to protect the more vulnerable among us, just don’t go into a nursing home or hospital, and so on. Tell Grandma you’ll visit her in another month, just in case.

But with our “snowflake” culture in America now, the major sports leagues are canceling their remaining games. Concerts are being canceled, and museums are closing down. And Wall Street is crashing, and not because of the COVID-19, but because of panic and hysteria. This really sucks now.

The “news” media especially suck, because they are also sensationalizing this virus situation, and over-hyping to the point of eliciting even more panic and hysteria, so that people are rushing to their stores to clear out the shelves to get toilet paper and foods and necessities.

The public schools are closing for a few weeks or a month, and in some cases they and businesses are being like Felix Unger, “scrubbing down” and “disinfecting,” “out of an abundance of caution.”

No, out of an abundance of hysteria and irrationality!

Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day parade has been canceled, as it has been canceled in other cities such as New York, and the Boston Marathon has been postponed until September.

Am I the only one around here who thinks all that is overkill?

Instead, officials should warn elderly people or those who have serious illnesses to not participate in or attend those events. But canceling all these events for everybody?

And then we have Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker declaring a “State of Emergency!” As of today there are 108 “cases” (not “confirmed,” just “cases” which means they could be cases of common flu or something else) and ZERO deaths in Massachusetts.

So other power-grabbing governors are ordering the schools including private schools closed! One thing’s for sure, these politicians love power, they love ordering others around and throwing their weight around.

And this is what we have now. Irrationality. Authoritarian declarations by governors, and all the cancellations of sporting events, concerts and public gatherings, colleges and schools ordering students to leave their dorms early, completely unnecessary.

John Whitehead of the Rutherford Institute recently wrote an article on how the COVID-19 overkill could be the excuse of our overlords to impose a Total Surveillance State. (This is another reason why I am a libertarian.)

According to the health officials who are not hysterical or bought and paid for by Big Pharma or who are not on a power trip, most of the people who actually get the COVID-19 virus may experience more mild than severe symptoms. Some may need to be hospitalized. If people already have respiratory issues, or smoke or live in heavily polluted areas, they are more vulnerable.

I think this is like any flu virus or cold that goes around. Chances are that most people will get this virus. They just have to be self-protective if you are among the more vulnerable, the elderly and those with serious medical conditions.

But the country is hysterical now, and it’s affecting the stock markets. And that’s a BIG problem, in my opinion. This mass hysteria is what really frightens me, not the virus itself.

What else concerns me are those people out there who are always on the lookout for someone to report on. So, watch out for all the Gladys Kravitzes out there, everyone. If you go out with a slight runny nose or happen to sneeze out in public, the health stasi may report on you. (Out of concern? No, out of ignorance and hysteria, and self-importance!)

The Swamp Impeachment Farce and Kooky 2020 Candidates

Every once in a while I want to write my thoughts on various matters here, but for some reason I “self-censor,” because I’m afraid of “offending” someone. Oh, well.

Anyway, there are a lot of issues and kooky characters in the news these days, including an impeachment “trial,” remarks by presidential candidates, and so on. A lot needs to be discussed. So, I will discuss.

Regarding the impeachment “trial,” I first want to reiterate that I am not a supporter of Donald Trump. He’s bad on immigration, trade, foreign policy, the “war on drugs,” and many other issues. But I do like his “Drain the Swamp” message, even though he has been feeding the swamp with all the military generals, neocon hacks and bureaucrats he has had in his administration.

And unfortunately, the establishment in Washington has two political parties known as the “major” parties, Republicrat and Demopublican. They are two sides of the same coin, the statist swamp coin, that is.

First the Democrats and the news media (redundant?) had acted in cahoots with the “dirty cops” of the FBI and DOJ to falsely accuse Trump of “collusions” with Russians to “hack” or steal the 2016 election. The Mueller report exonerated Trump after a 2+ year investigation.

See that ultra-conservative Trump-supporter Glenn Greenwald on that exoneration.

Now, obviously I’m being facetious, as Greenwald is a progressive-left commentator and policy analyst. But because he believes in exposing the actual truth of something, and because he rakes the “news” media propagandists over the coals regarding their cover-ups and hypocrisy and their revolving door with bureaucracies, they have been calling him a “Putin puppet,” “Russian asset,” etc.

Much of the “news” media have been acting like programmed robots in their propaganda crusade against all things Trump.

And the “news” (sic) media get a bad grade (from me) for their coverage of the whole congressional, FBI and Mueller investigations of the collusion allegations, because the media basically acted as stenographers for everything the D.C. swamp creatures tell them, without any investigative research whatsoever.

We might as well close down the Columbia School of Journalism, Emerson College, et al. They are now useless (except for training up-and-coming propagandists for the establishment, the swamp), so it seems.

After the Mueller Report didn’t work for the Democrat-Swamp-FBI-DOJ complex, when the Report was released in March and April of 2019, members of Congress immediately demanded Trump’s tax returns to see if a new fishing expedition would help them. They had no probable cause, reasonable suspicion, no specific tax-related allegation of any kind, but no matter. That was April 3rd of 2019, according to the New York Times and the Washington Times. I don’t want to link to them.

And then a CIA-experienced White House employee calling himself a “whistleblower” leaked second-hand info regarding a Trump phone call, to begin a new impeachment inquiry. The dishonest Rep. Adam Schiff had been in cahoots with “whistleblower” starting the day after the Trump-Ukraine phone call. Actually, the “whistleblower” began in his crusade to get Trump removed from office just days after Trump was inaugurated!

On the first day of the House Impeachment Inquiry, the dishonest Schiff read a fake transcript of the phone call, that read like a mafia boss, to fool listeners (and many in the media) into believing what he was reading was the actual phone call transcript. Just a day or two before that, the White House had released the actual phone call transcript. (Joe Biden, former vice president, corrupt?)

Now, the so-called “whistleblower” was NOT a whistleblower. If you want to know who is a whistleblower, see info on Chelsea Manning, John Kiriakou, William Binney and Thomas Drake, who were all imprisoned by the feds to punish them for releasing info on corruption and criminal behavior by government bureaucrats and military. Exposing wrongdoing is a no-no in Washington!

No, the White House CIA “whistleblower” is not a whistleblower in the true sense of the word, he is just a leaker, not only a leaker but really a propagandist, who leaked hearsay information to the media and Congress.

ANY phone call between ANY president and ANY foreign leader can be manipulated and used to falsely accuse someone of anything! Which is exactly what this situation is.

So what we will have from now on is Republicrat or Demopublican politicians going on fishing expeditions against a president of the opposing party, starting impeachment inquiries and “trials” in the Senate. This is just the beginning, folks.

This is yet another reason why I haven’t voted for a Demopublican or Republicrat since the ’90s! I have been supporting Libertarian Party candidates or “None of the Above,” quite frankly.

And what else has been in the news lately? Well, the 2020 presidential campaign, of course. Besides the senile-sounding 77-year-old Joe Biden, there is the grouchy, cranky 78-year-old Bernie Sanders, who is so much “against the rich” that he has become rich himself. They are both Republicrats, I say.

And Tulsi Gabbard, who is supposedly anti-war, as I am. But as Jacob Hornberger has pointed out, Gabbard is anti-war only in opposition to “regime-change wars,” but not other foreign wars in which American troops are sent off to get killed or crippled for no reason except to enrich the so-called “defense” (sic) contractors. So, she’s kind of hypocritical when it comes to “anti-war,” or she’s just ignorant and confused.

Now Gabbard is suing Hillary Clinton for “defamation,” because Hillary referred to a Democrat running for president as a “Russian asset,” even though Clinton didn’t even mention Gabbard’s name. The suit is completely frivolous, and would be so even if Gabbard’s name was mentioned, and Gabbard will not win the suit.

And one of my favorite libertarian blogs, Target Liberty, has a comprehensive post on the “matronly” Amy Klobuchar, who apparently is a “perfect puppet for the behind the scenes puppetmasters of the Empire.”

Actually, like Trump, any one of these phony-baloneys would be a “perfect puppet for the empire.”

So anyway, impeach away The Donald, I really don’t care. But President Mike Pence? He’s an even worse warmonger than Trump and those other Demopublicans and Republicrats.

The Official Vaccine Narrative, Sold by Propaganda

A recent article by Bretigne Shaffer on the vaccine controversy refers to how some Internet sites are now censoring or taking down older articles that challenge the vaccine narrative. Influential Internet websites such as Huffington Post are censoring valid studies in order to make people less informed. Why would they do this?

In my opinion, in most cases those websites are being run by easily manipulated social activists, and, in the case of the vaccine issue they are acting as useful idiots for the sake of Pig Pharma profits. That’s basically it. I know, “useful idiot” is a bit harsh, and it certainly doesn’t apply in all cases.

But Merck, Glaxo and Pfizer really are making big bucks. And I don’t know why. How can these big corporations have such a huge influence on people? Just effective propaganda?

And Bretigne Shaffer also explains how the science on vaccines is not at all “settled.” So that’s a very good article to check out.

Another recent article, by Alison Fujito at the Children’s Health Defense website, is an open letter to New Yorker writer Nick Paumgarten, who wrote an apparently unprofessional and ignorant article on the measles.

Among other things, Fujito writes:

Some of us are not even opposed to vaccines, only to compulsory vaccination.  Others have, understandably, lost trust in the entire medical system. We are, however, united in our opposition to fraudulent product licensure, fraudulent product marketing, and corruption of government entities meant to oversee industry, but staffed by it instead.

People seem to have no trouble understanding the fraud and corruption that led to the opioid debacle.  And the Vioxx debacle. And the DES, thalidomide, and countless other debacles caused by pharmaceutical dishonesty.  There is clear evidence of  fraud and corruption involving many vaccines. Why is that so hard to accept?

Note that Merck has been in federal court since 2010 on fraud charges brought by their own virologists, who disclosed that they were actually forced to falsify efficacy data for the MMR vaccine.

This is especially significant because Merck, like other vaccine manufacturers, is already exempt from the gold standard requirement of randomized, double-blind, inert-placebo-controlled safety trials on vaccines because they are classified as “biologics” rather than “drugs.” Yet, astoundingly, in the US, they cannot be sued for adverse reactions, not even if they are proven negligent.

Inadequate safety testing for a mandated medical intervention, yet full protection from liability — this is a recipe for disaster.

There are a lot of very good points in that article as well, for those who believe in honest medical care, and who believe in medical freedom, that is, the freedom to choose what substances to put into one’s own body or one’s child’s body, and the freedom to not have a substance invasively and forcibly injected into us, involuntarily.

Sadly, our society has become one of passive, unchallenging acceptance of what establishment medicine has to tell us (or force on us). It is a society of Doctor Worship, I think. But it has been my own personal experience that many doctors just like to hand out drugs like candy as though they are the magical cure or THE only way of prevention. I think it’s the same thing with the vaccines. Much of the establishment vaccine narrative is based on superstition, in my opinion.

Google And Social Media Censorship of Non-Establishment Health Information

There is an extensive article on SelfHacked.com about Google’s censorship of non-Establishment health information. SelfHacked.com is a “simple blog for biohackers…recognized among the most trusted sources for natural health research on the planet.” That post was linked to by another informative health website, GreenMedInfo.com.

Now, over the past many years since my medical ordeal with my Establishment doctors’ bad advice and bad prescription drugs, I have relied mainly on alternative health news. Because of my ulcerative colitis sensitive condition, I can’t eat certain foods that are actually important for our health, such as most vegetables and nuts, and other foods that are not easily digested. But the various foods and supplements I have now (as alternatives) I learned about not from doctors but from the Internet. What if the censorship campaign that seems to be unfolding now was already underway during the 2000s and later? How would I have known about my alternatives? For instance, how would I get further information on and comparisons and ratings of magnesium supplements?

Another recent article on the theme of alternative health censorship is on Dr. Mercola’s website, regarding the “technology tyrants” and their attempts to “control the masses through massive data collection, surveillance and censorship.” Dr. Mercola discusses an article that Washington Post reporter Lena Sun is preparing, a “hit piece” for which Sun interviewed Mercola via email and he published her questions and his answers in his article. She seems intent on doing a hatchet job on someone who provides important information that the general public are not getting from their doctors or from the mainstream media.

And I am not sure if I covered it here, but also recently Jon Rappoport’s blog on WordPress.com was taken down without explanation. I can just guess that it was because he has written a lot of posts on the vaccine industry and on the link between vaccines and not just autism but other neurological problems as well. I have also written some posts on vaccines on this WordPress.com blog and other more personal posts that I have spent a lot of time on, like the one on my ordeal with the doctors’ bad advice and their damn prescription drugs. I hope my blog doesn’t get taken down also.

By the way, Jon Rappoport’s blog is back up on his own website, No More Fake News. (I think it’s getting a bit more difficult to hope for no more fake news, since there’s so much of it now.)

There is propaganda everywhere now. From the college campuses with the wacky professors and the easily-triggered “snowflakes” shouting down any speaker they disagree with, to the news media who act as unchallenging press spokespeople for government bureaucrats and corporate fat cats. You have to really have an open mind and you have to have access to the Internet to do your own research to get the real truth.

But it is quite concerning with the young people now, many of whom are graduating from the schools not only ignorant of history and whose critical thinking skills have been squashed by intolerant teachers, themselves quite ignorant. But also the young people having been brainwashed with various irrational social and cultural beliefs. That is distressing.

And the workers at the Big Tech companies such as Facebook and Google are of the younger variety in their 20s and 30s. A lot of them supposedly are “Social Justice Warriors,” but not really. They are just “Control Warriors.” Their activism is mainly for the sake of control, controlling what other people say or what other people are allowed to think. This is not good.

So, how many vaccine doses are these young people given now in their earlier years? 60 vaccine doses by the age of 6? What are the vaccines and their adjuvants such as aluminum doing to these young people’s brains? And that’s in addition to the prescription drugs such as Adderall and Zoloft that are also screwing up the young people’s brains. Add to all that the marijuana and other street drugs they take in their teens and 20s.

But we’re not allowed to say those things, because we’re not allowed to say that aluminum being injected into little kids bodies accumulates in the brain and affects the kids’ brains in their early developing stages, and their little neurotransmitters.

Another worrisome part of society now is how a lot of people are literally addicted to their computers, phones and social media. They just can’t let go of their phones. Is Big Tech hypnotizing the young, and turning them into zombies?

And so, it might sound a bit “conspiracy theory,” but besides acting on behalf of Establishment medicine and Big Pharma/Big Agra, the propagandized robots of Big Tech really have been colluding with government agencies, including the “intelligence” agencies, to “influence” people’s thinking. (On that last issue, see this, this, this, this, this, this, and this.)

The State of Psychiatry These Days

There was a lengthy post by a psychiatrist, Scott Alexander, about this year’s meeting of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

The post on the APA meeting included photos of the meeting premises and all the ads for psychiatric drugs by the damn pharmaceutical companies! I wanted to barf when I saw those photos. The ads are spread out on the escalators and staircases, benches as well as posters. Ads especially for anti-psychotic drugs. Egads, are there that many psychotic people around who really need that stuff?

Supposedly, 40 million Americans are taking psychiatric drugs. Oh, is that why Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump are acting that way? Is it the drug itself or the side effects?

No, I’m just kidding. But is this why the college students are so frightened by everything? The “snowflakes”? There are anti-psychotics, anti-anxiety drugs, anti-depressants, as well as all the drugs for ADHD and so forth, Adderall and Ritalin.

Dr. Peter Breggin has spoken and written extensively about those issues, and about the dangers of psychiatric drugs, such as anti-depressants and anti-ADHD drugs.

The psychiatrist who wrote the post on the APA meeting, writes,

There’s a popular narrative that drug companies have stolen the soul of psychiatry. That they’ve reduced everything to chemical imbalances. The people who talk about this usually go on to argue that the true causes of mental illness are capitalism and racism. Have doctors forgotten that the real solution isn’t a pill, but structural change that challenges the systems of exploitation and domination that create suffering in the first place?

“The true causes of mental illness are capitalism and racism”? Capitalism causes mental illness? (Well, I wonder how much this doctor charges his patients?! Is that the capitalism he refers to?)

Now, during the 1980s I was in therapy, during and after college. And I also took several psychology courses in college. That was always something of interest to me. And I was in group therapy for several years as well. Don’t know if any of that therapy or group therapy helped, as far as anxiety and insecurity, etc. But I know from my own upbringing and from what I heard about from those fellow group therapy members, that our early family relationships and interactions had a big influence on things. But today’s psychiatrists and psychologists don’t seem to want to look at those aspects of the origins of anxiety or depression. It’s easier to give someone a drug, like a band-aid. Or repeat these more recent mantras of “racism” and “domination,” and … “capitalism”?

On the origins of anxiety, depression, or dysfunctional behaviors and interactions (I don’t like the phrase “mental illness,” because that’s more of a label or a stigma), I have found the works of Alice Miller, Heinz Kohut, D.W. Winnicott, Margaret Mahler, and Carl Whitaker enlightening and helpful.

Besides the over-dependence on the psychiatric drugs now by psychiatrists (many of whom are being paid by the pharmaceutical companies to promote that crap, by the way), I can see just how off-the-deep-end the whole industry has gone, as it too has been overly-infiltrated by the social justice warrior stuff.

In the post about the APA meeting, the writer describes how “woke” everyone is, and lists the various presentations about racism, gender bias, “Women’s Health In The US: Disruption And Exclusion In The Time Of Trump,” and “Addressing Microaggressions Toward Sexual And Gender Minorities: Caring For LGBTQ+ Patients And Providers,” among other “woke” things.

Now, please don’t get me started on all this stuff. A lot of this SJW stuff in recent years has been very dishonest and hypocritical. There are many calls for censorship now, and silencing of people who hadn’t intended any offense. Freedom of speech is a very important thing in a civilized society, in my opinion. And the SJW and “#MeToo” movements have encouraged the eroding of due process and presumption of innocence. So there’s an anti-civil liberties trend there.

I’m sure a lot of indoctrinated, “woke” people won’t agree with this, but there’s no such thing as “microaggression.” There are only aggression and non-aggression. Aggression is a physical phenomenon. If some people are so sensitive and thin-skinned with certain words or phrases then they obviously have some unresolved issues that probably go back to one’s childhood.

But these days, it seems that many people including psychiatrists and psychologists don’t want to look at those things. Perhaps they have unresolved issues from their own early childhoods?

Besides the police state and the national security-related erosion of civil liberties, psychiatry is another field in which coercion (i.e. aggression via threats or intimidation) is acceptable, regardless of how immoral it is.

I don’t know if the APA meeting included any talks on the use of Involuntary commitment and coercion, especially with child medical kidnapping. The Justina Pelletier Boston Children’s Hospital case, in which psychiatrists took control over an actual medical case of mitochondrial disease and claimed it was all psychosomatic and had the child involuntarily committed to a mental institution, was one of the most egregious cases I have read about. I certainly am glad the Pelletier family are in the process of suing the hospital. I also had my own negative experiences during the 1980s with psychotherapists (but nothing as extreme as involuntary commitments, though). So, I’m not big on psychiatry and the whole “mental health” industry.

And finally, the APA meeting actually included a CIA booth! Oh, come ON, are you serious? Are the CIA in need of psychiatric help? Are they there to recruit some hapless James Bond-wannabe MDs who might report on their patients expressing views the government disapproves of? I’m sure they already do this.

Can We Reverse Recent Trends?

Besides writing about health issues and my own personal experiences, I also wanted to write about social, cultural and political issues of the day, which I have done a little bit. But those issues seem to be more and more annoying. Things are more bizarre than ever now. I am in my mid-50s and frankly, the trends need to be reversed or we’re in deep doo-doo.

I remember the 1980s when people expressed concern about President “Ronald Ray-Gun” with his finger on the button. When he claimed that he had “just signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever, we begin bombing in 5 minutes,” the Russians panicked. But Americans knew he was just joking. (Imagine if Donald Trump did that. Yikes.)

And Reagan would be hounded by the press corps and he’d refer to them as being “surrounded by the sharks.” Most often he would only take questions outside with the loud noisy helicopters waiting.

So in the 1980s there was the Iran-Contra arms-for-hostages scandal, but that was a real thing that happened so it’s good that some people actually got in trouble for it. But now? The Trump-Russia thing that never was. All the hysteria over something that never happened and was in fact a set-up. As progressive journalist Glenn Greenwald wrote in response to the media hysteria on the Mueller report, there was no there there. (And I don’t like Donald Trump, except for his ability to provoke the media and other Beltway people.)

But Reagan at least had an understanding of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. No such luck with Donald Trump.

Prior to the 1980s, I remember the Vietnam War during the 1970s and fearing that that might be me having to go out there. I was in middle school when the war ended. And they ended the draft as well. Phew, that was close. (And then Jimmy Carter brought back registration for the draft. Apparently, Carter didn’t get the memo about “unalienable rights” as referred to in the aforementioned Declaration of Independence.) I remember seeing, I think, Bernard Kalb and Morley Safer actually out there on the battlefield covering the Vietnam War.

And then later in 1991 we had George H.W. Bush start a war in Iraq that then caused a lot of blowback, and more wars, violence, terrorism. So, the Reagan years were not so bad in that regard, situated between the LBJ-Nixon Vietnam War and the Bush wars from 1991 to the present. Of course, the younger Bush, Clinton, Obama and Trump never had to go to war. Yet, they became big warmongers, drone bombers, etc.

Also back in the 1970s, I remember the culture clashes that really began during the 1960s. There were the “Women’s Libbers” and bra burners, like Helen Reddy and “Hear me roar, I am woman, I am invincible,” and all that. Now we have an entire LGBT industry that is getting so extreme it is turning against itself, and against feminists like Camille Paglia. You can’t say “he” or “him” in reference to someone who actually is a biological male if said male demands to be referred to as a female. People want laws to mandate that kind of Orwellian speech authoritarianism. In fact, there are such laws in some counties.

So, that whole crowd of political correctness run amok is quite bothersome, and who knows where that’s going to go. And on the other side, we have the Donald Trump authoritarians who want draconian immigration restrictions and a police state. It seems to me that extreme nationalists don’t get the idea of “unalienable rights” as written in the Declaration of Independence, as I mentioned above.

Why is this culture stuff so important to those people? They’re wrecking our freedom in the name of “preserving our culture,” so it seems. Why can’t they look at the causes of the immigration crisis? Perhaps address the war on drugs? Prohibition causes underground markets which cause the drug trafficking, etc. And we know that prohibition hasn’t kept people from getting their damn drugs all these 60 years of the war on drugs. Duh. And perhaps address the welfare state?

Speaking of the welfare state, Donald Trump is a self-proclaimed economic nationalist. Part of economic nationalism is the scheme of taxation and redistribution, as well as heavy and intrusive regulations. So, Trump and the conservatives support the welfare state, funded by non-consensual taxation and by withholding as well. Prior to the 20th Century, America had seen the biggest rise in the standard of living during the 2nd half of the 19th Century. In that earlier era, Americans had the freedom to do whatever they wanted with all their earnings and wealth and the government didn’t take it away from them, they had the freedom to do business however they wanted without government restrictions and demands to fill out this or that form, and people had the freedom to leave and return to America without being questioned like suspects.

And that is what I have to say about all that. For now.
